WEAR – Wearable technologists Engage with Artists for Responsible Innovation
“WEAR is a two-year project that has been running for 18 months, funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 research and innovation initiative to engage art, design and creative industries to work more closely with technology and engineering industries. It also aims to shift the development of the wearables and e-textile landscape towards a more sustainable and ethical approach. Through WEAR Sustain, 46 project teams and start-ups are funded to further develop sustainable and ethical wearable or e-textile prototypes towards market readiness.
In this session, Berit will introduce the project and the initial work that has gone into the development of a sustainability strategy – and explain how it’s envisioned as a toolkit that will become a living artefact for the community, providing advice, mentorship, services and recommendations to enable future innovation.
WEAR is part of the European initiative STARTS, encouraging and funding innovation at the nexus of Science, Technology, and the ARTS (S+T*ARTS).”
