Biography

Ina Budde, MA Sustainability in Fashion, is a future-thinking designer, lecturer and entrepreneur in the world of sustainable fashion. 2015 she founded ‚Design for Circularity’ – a sustainable design lab to realize circular design and system innovations for fashion labels with the aim to close the loop for textiles. Together with her team she is currently realizing the EXTENDED CLOSED LOOP Platform – a digital solution for an interconnected circular industry structure that has been selected as one of the innovations of LAUNCH Nordic 2014 and received the NEXT ECONOMY AWARD 2015. Besides implementing the EXTENDED CLOSED LOOP platform she gives industry workshops and teaches ‚sustainable design strategies in fashion’ at international universities in Hamburg, Berlin, Copenhagen and London. Currently she works in the MA Programm ESMOD Berlin. Ina Budde is founding member of the global Open Source Circular Economy association and co-initiated in this frame the first CircularTextileChallenge.

How to use cutting edge technology to create a transparent, sustainable and circular fashion system?
Design for Circularity is developing a platform and a smart tag in clothing to enable a transparent, circular and sustainable future of fashion. A future where products and materials are recycled infinitely to new materials – a future without waste and the need of new resources. The EXTENDED CLOSED LOOP Platform makes it possible through a Design Tool for Labels and Makers to create recyclable products as well as through the scannable Smart Tag integrated into recyclable clothing. It creates absolute transparency along the whole product life, provides an exciting product interface to the customer and is the first direct interconnection between designers, users and recyclers. We look forward to meet makers, fashion brands and technology gurus that share our passion for sustainable fashion tech. We aim to join forces to collaboratively spread innovation in textiles that will not compromise but first enable the recyclability and a closed loop of fashion.
